Resumo

Friction stir welding of aeronautical structural elements formed of similar and dissimilar materials, which have distinct mechanical properties, is of great interest to the aeronautical industry due to the lightweight and reducing of operating costs that this type of joint can generate. Therefore, the objective of this work was to determine the welding parameters by friction stir welding the dissimilar butt joints with the 7050-T7451 aluminum alloys and the 2050-T84 aluminum-lithium alloy and similar joint with the aluminum alloy 2198-T851. For this purpose, tools were designed for each type of joint and after successive tests, their respective welding parameters were determined. In order to verify and validate the welds, thermal analyzes were performed to determine the hot welding procedure for both joints, which favors intense microstructural heterogeneity and mechanical properties in the weld region. This theory was corroborated by the detailed evaluation of the cross-section of the joints by the EBSD techniques and Vickers microhardness mapping, where the formation of the typical regions of this process with significant reduction of hardness and called the stirred zone, thermomechanically affected zone and heat affected zone.
